Are muslims allowed to eat xylitol? - xylitol sugar substitute
Xylitol is a sugar substitute - it is actually a timber of alcohol, but it looks and tastes like sugar (in crystalline form). It occurs naturally in berries, corn and many other fruits. It has a very low glycemic index of 7 and can be safely consumed by diabetics. But it is an alcohol, then what is the Islamic position, (to consume the material and, I suppose, eat strawberries, etc.).
